Garden inspiration from the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show

It's that time of the year again!! Time to head for the Garden Show for lots of ideas.

Outdoor room
Having procrastinated about the veggie garden for years now I needed to get some fresh ideas.
Here are some great ways to maximise the space you have available to install a veggie patch.

I love the idea of creating an entry to the veggie garden. Here are two ideas that appealed to me. This could easily be replicated using a repurposed gate from a second hand dealer. Alternatively you could make your own from panels bought from Bunnings put on some hinges.

This idea of creating a gate where you display/store your tools is adorable. I am definitely stealing this idea...however I will have to work out how I make it toddler proof!

Water tanks are now a normal part of Australian gardens. I expect we will see more and more people integrating them into the landscaping especially near the veggie patch. Softening the look of a tank by placing an espalier fruit tree in front of it means you can embrace the charm of a water tank rather than try to hide it.

These were some great little toppers to put on your garden stakes for your creeping veggies and berries.

This was a truly inspiring idea! This hanging seat is situated above stepping stones surrounded by herbs and veggies, with space being at such a premium in gardens these days this is a great way to incorporate your leisure areas and productive garden.

This combination of gravel and slate created in a spiral shape is a creative way of making a path, children would love this. This would make a great path for a herb garden.

This example of a simple slate paver path along a river pebble pond is another way to bring a little Australian landscape into the suburban garden.

This outdoor seating area in amongst the bushes inspired me to look at ways to create a herb garden with a lounge seating area.

A great gathering spot for winter bbqs.
While all of the above garden and ideas were quite classical and polished the following ideas are a bit more quirky and displayed some funny ways to recycle while creating an edible garden.

I love the  idea of veggies and herbs surrounding the clothes line.

And then there was the dream outdoor room.....

The floral exhibitions were full of ideas and the unusual.

The colours in the floral displays were gorgeous...and gave me a few more ideas on how to display flowers and posies in the home.

I hope this gave you some motivation to get out in the garden or brighten your home with flowers.
