Whimsical decor ideas from the Mornington Peninsular

There are plenty of ways to bring a beach holiday feel to your home.

I found some trational beachy decorative objects and some more whimsical pieces during my stay in Victorias beautiful Mornington Peninsular. These origami cranes made out of sheet music have an amazing mystical feel.

Here is an example of how you can group like items together. This shop display uses items such as stones, glass, candles, shells, jars or vases. The neutral tones can stop it from looking 'too much'.  While these items were quite pricey, I found some really good alternatives bags of beautiful stones in $2 shops, jars of shells in Go Lo and the Reject shop often have a lovely range of vases and glass.
Unfinished wood and bits of robe added to items can add a beachy look. You can pick up some rough twine at hardware stores or even Discount stores wrap them around jars or baskets.

I found a huge range of throw cushions in the Blairgowrie News Agency.
They have a great range of accessories and homewares. I always find a few nice pieces to bring home with me.
These are a great idea!!
